Blowout

By

A Poem on Girlhood

In the shower I find solace from the never ending barrage of dread-laden thoughts which furiously bombards me.

I lie there raisining, bathed in scalding hot water and a deep warm glow which is cast upon me by the fuchsia shower curtain.

As the stream of heat drums against my abdomen I find myself in a temporary intermission from the steady current of anxieties and eagerness which plagues me.

I’d relish thirty minutes in that amniotic cocoon right about now, but I can’t, you see.

I just got a blowout.
