white silence

By

white silence blankets the streets

snowfall dampens the noise

muffles sirens and screams

white silence blankets the towns

enshrined in whiteness

they need not make a sound

white ice terrorizes the brown

beaten, bruised, dragged off to the pound

caged like animals or shot dead on the ground

ivory towers, white outside and in

ivory towers, you’re letting them win

white silence makes no sound
